BIO


The artist grew up in rural Pennsylvania. Her work has long been drawn from the natural world.  

She and her husband, the photographer Will Brown, lived in Philadelphia until 2019, when they moved to Garrison, NY. They spent summers in Montville, Maine from 1972 through 2023.


Brown has received awards from The American Academy of Arts and Letters, The Pew Foundation, The Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, The Independence Foundation, The Leeway Foundation, and Philagrafika. And residencies through MacDowell,  Maryland Institute College of Art, The Ballenglen Foundation, the Vermont Studio Center, the LaNapoule Foundation and Artists for Environment Foundation. 

Her work is included in the collections of Alliance Capital, Tokyo, Japan, Bowdoin College Art Museum, The Bryn Mawr College Library, Farnsworth Art Museum, MacDowell, The Free Library of Philadelphia, The James A. Michener Art Museum, Museum of American Glass, Johns Hopkins Hospital, The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, The Philadelphia Museum of Art, The Portlland, Maine, Museum of Art, Princeton University Art Museum, Rutgers Center for Innovative Prints and Paper, The Shipley School and the United States Embassy in Estana, Kajakhstan.
